Capital Medical Center (All units) - Vote Scheduled Over Healthcare Amendments

When MultiCare acquired Capital Medical Center earlier this year we bargained with your new Employer to make some changes to our contract, which included moving members over to the MultiCare healthcare plan. However, the premium rates charged to Capital Medical Center employees remained significantly higher than what other MultiCare employees are paying, even though you are on the same plan.

We are pleased to report that we were able to negotiate with MultiCare further changes to your healthcare plan that will change your premium rates to match what other UFCW 21 members are paying at other facilities for plan year 2022. This result is significantly lower premiums in most plans!

Let’s look at the “My Connected Care” plan (if you’ve participated in the wellness plan):

Employee Only
Current Rates: $221/mo
Proposed Rates: NO PREMIUM!

Employee + Spouse
Current Rates: $633/mo
Proposed Rates: $210/mo

Employee + Children
Current Rates: $433/mo
Proposed Rates: $111/mo

Employee + Family
Current Rates:$762/mo
Proposed Rates: $294/mo

All other plan details such as deductibles, co-pays, network coverage, and out of pocket maximums remain unchanged with the new premium rates.

We will have a virtual membership meeting on Monday, November 29 @ 6 PM to share all the details of the proposed changes. It’s extremely important that members attend the meeting to get a full understanding of the employer’s offer and have your questions answered ahead of the actual vote. (Contact your Bargaining Team or Union Rep for Zoom details. Details will also be emailed.)

While the information in your open enrollment packet includes these changes, they still require a full vote of UFCW 21 membership at Capital Medical Center. We will be voting online via “SimplyVoting” on Thursday, December 2 @ 6 AM - 8PM. You will be receiving an email from UFCW 21 via “SimplyVoting” with your unique login information.

In order to vote, everyone needs to make sure their personal email is up to date in our records. If you did not receive this announcement via email, go to: ufcw21.org/update-your-information

If you do not receive an email to vote on Thursday, December 2, then please reach out to Union Rep Ian Jacobson @ (206) 436-6550 no later than 5 PM on the day of the vote to provide an updated email address.
