New Grocery Contract Approved by 92%

After over five months of negotiations, grocery workers in King, Snohomish, Kitsap and North Mason Counties have overwhelmingly ratified the 2007 grocery contract by 92%. The new contract includes wage increases each year, makes substantial improvements to medical benefits, secures our pension plan, and makes progress on family-friendly scheduling and sick leave.

Grocery Contract Voting will take place on Sunday, August 26th in Seattle, Lynnwood, Sea-Tac, and Bellevue, and on Tuesday, August 28th in Silverdale. You can show up and vote at any time during the periods the polling stations are open. Read on for details

We’re the workers of these national grocery chains and we’re currently in contract negotiations. Employers need to share the success with us — and with our communities.

At our last session, the union bargaining team told the employers in unmistakable terms: We won’t accept lump sum bonuses. We won’t accept longer wage progressions. And we won’t accept other cutbacks. 30¢ raises are not enough — and 2¢ is a joke.

We have bargaining dates scheduled through late June, and our contract extension is still in place. Union members at the table are driving the bargaining process, and our calls for employers to SHARE THE SUCCESS are getting out loud and clear. Bargaining this week focused primarily on medical benefits.
