Members Stand United – Police Say Pam Can Stay

But Threat Remains

Tacoma General Cafeteria Tuesday afternoon

Today, as part of her usual visit to the TG Cafeteria, Pam Blauman came to speak with members, update workers on issues and answer questions. So while Pam’s approach today was typical, MultiCare’s was far from normal.

True to their threatening letter, they called in the police. As the police arrived, Pam was conversing with members, and updating them on issues in the workplace. For the half hour that followed as Pam talked to police, more members came by to give her hugs and show their support.

Ultimately the police said “You can stay” to Pam and she went back to work.

As a result of standing up together, members have shown MultiCare, that we will not be moved.

Threat Remains

The letters from November and December that threatened arrest remain in effect. MultiCare could still decide to follow through on a lawsuit against Pam, but we will keep returning to the cafeteria and do our work together. Right now, MultiCare has implemented the higher costs of the worker's health plan. We have filed an Unfair Labor Practice to challenge that illegal action. But so far MultiCare has refused to come back to bargaining.

Stay tuned for further updates on all these issues.

*Pam had to leave early today due to weather conditions.
