Management Proposes Zero%
Bargaining resumed on Tuesday, November 8th. Management provided us the balance of their initial proposal which included economics.
The proposal included no adjustment to the current wage scale in year 1, meaning only step increases this year for those of us that actually have a step in front of us this year, and zero increase to the wage scale. Year two they want to re-open the wage portion of the contract in October and discuss wages again, with no assurance of any pay increase in year two.
Needless to say, the bargaining team was outraged and finds the offer totally unacceptable. Our bargaining unit took a one year step freeze, and small incremental percentage increases during our current contract, only to watch the RN’s and Clinic employees enjoy step increases and percentage adjustments in each year of their respective contracts.
Some progress was made on minor language issues and other areas still need some work. But it appears economics will be a major struggle.
