Bargaining Committee and Jefferson County Continue Agreement Talks
The UFCW 21 Bargaining Committee has met with Jefferson County on two separate occasions and continues to work on an agreement that will be satisfactory to all employees.
Health Care: One of the concerns was with our health care and the county has agreed to remain on the current plan.
We have made proposals to strengthen career ladder positions and are working on improving the language regarding layoffs and use of seniority.
Wages: The biggest concern going forward will be the economic portion of the contract. We have put forward several proposals and the County is in the process of costing out our economic proposals.
While we all want the best possible outcome for the contract, the economic reality is that this will be a challenge to get all that we proposed. We are optimistic that we will be able to achieve a fair contract but it will not be without a few bumps in the road.
Additionally, we have had several changes in the Human Resource position at the County which has caused a little slow down in the bargaining process. We are awaiting new bargaining dates from the County.
As we move forward we will update you with new information. The Bargaining Committee thanks all employees for being patient as the process this time may take a little longer than we anticipated.
