Arrest Pam?

In addition to MultiCare’s recent attack on our health care*, they have threatened to arrest Pam Blauman. MultiCare says if she continues to represent members in the cafeteria, as she has for years, by providing them with important information about their rights, such as copies of their union contracts she will be escorted out by law enforcement.

Is MultiCare Afraid of Members Knowing Their Rights?

In MultiCare’s letter to Pam:

“Please be advised that your refusal to comply with the request . . . constitutes trespass . . . law enforcement will be summoned . . .”

“Our long-time union representative Pam Blauman has been nothing but a pleasant presence in our lunchroom. She is there to assist us with any and all questions we may have regarding our contract and other work related issues. The fact that MultiCare wants to kick her out is an insult to her and an insult to us. It is an attack on our union rights. We won’t stand for this kind of treatment.”

*MultiCare Attacks Our Health Care

As a reminder we have filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against MultiCare Health Systems with the National Labor Relations Board. This charge was filed because they did not bargain in good faith. This occured when they left the bargaining table while we were trying to come to an agreement on the costly changes they want to make to our health plan.

We have been clear that their proposed increase in deductibles and other costs were unacceptably high.

After leaving the table MultiCare has now decided to implement their new health care plan. We will give you an update on this matter as soon as it is available.

Our contract provides protections including a requirement that MultiCare bargain any changes to the health plan with our union.
