How Legislators Voted on Working Family Issues
2008 Legislative Session Wrapup
April 8, 2008
Here is a summary of where legislators stood on four of our key legislative issues this session:
The Prescription Privacy Act would bar drug companies from using doctors’ prescribing histories for marketing purposes. The Prescription Privacy Act passed the Senate but was not brought for a vote in the House. However, we secured pledges of support from many members of the House, and got pledges of opposition from others. Still others would not commit to support the legislation.
The Rate Hike Accountability Act gives the Insurance Commissioner the power to rein in big premium increases by insurance companies. The Rate Hike Accountability Act passed the Legislature and was signed into law by Governor Gregoire!
The Envisioning the Future of Health Care Bill will establish a work group to issue recommendations on how to provide affordable quality health care to all people in our state. Our bill passed the Legislature and was signed into law by Governor Gregoire!
The Working Families Tax Rebate will provide tax relief for low-income workers. Our bill passed the Legislature and was signed into law by Governor Gregoire!
